School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE)
The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering is a large and dynamic department in the Faculty of Science and Health. The School is internationally known for its research in a range of areas and offers an excellent education to its students.
We are rapidly growing due to increasing student numbers and have an opening for a Lecturer in the area of computational finance. In particular, we are seeking an excellent individual in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Making who specialises in computational finance and closely related areas, including algorithmic game theory.
We aim for excellence in education as well as research and are looking for individuals who can contribute to both.
Duties of the Role
We wish to improve the School’s existing research as well as open up and develop new research activities that will become recognised as excellent and internationally leading. You will teach on our courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. This may include delivering existing modules, developing new modules and generally improving our research-led teaching.
Duties will include contributing to excellence in education, engaging in individual and/or collaborative research activity (resulting in internationally excellent publications) that is in keeping with REF criteria, generating external research funding and supervising student projects, fieldwork and placements
You will also contribute to the administration and management of the School, and to the local, regional and international profile of the Department.

Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will hold a relevant doctoral level research degree and will have Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate.
You will have proven experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, and of designing and planning learning activities and will be able to demonstrate evidence of a clear computer-science research agenda and publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes, engagement in high-quality research activity, and a developing research profile.
