DepartmentThe School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences is a new department at the University of Essex bringing together physiotherapy, sports therapy, and sports and exercise sciences, and also including the Human Performance Unit. Duties of the RoleThe Deputy School Manager will support the School Manager with all aspects of school, course and student administration. You will have specific responsibility for the School's professional services team which leads on the student services function, and will be responsible for managing and developing a high-quality and efficient student administration team. The role will shape the student services delivery model for the School, and will drive a culture of excellence in service delivery, sharing of best practice, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with the School Manager and key leadership roles within the School, the Faculty, and central professional services sections, and as such will contribute to ensuring effective communication and engagement.Some of the responsibilities will include managing the delivery of a high quality service to students, providing direct and hands-on support to the professional services, managing the administration for the School's postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes, co-ordinating the preparation of exam papers and managing complex student casework matters.Skills and qualifications requiredThe successful candidate will be educated to A Level standard or equivalent qualification or experience and will have extensive administrative experience, experience of managing staff and experience in the development and implementation of policies and/ procedures A degree and knowledge of the University's ESIS database are desirable.You will have excellent organisational and administrative skills alongside strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will possess a demonstrable ability to build, lead and motivate a team and a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities while working under pressure.
