Applications are invited from internal current academic members of staff appointed to the post of Lecturer or above. The Faculty Progress and Assessment Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Deputy Dean Education with student cases for departments within the Faculty and for chairing Board of Examiners' meetings. We are now seeking a Faculty and Progress Assessment Officer for the Faculty of Humanities.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the Rules of Assessment and rules relating to reassessment are applied consistently and correctly and will also be responsible for the ongoing review of the Rules of Assessment and the development and delivery of training and briefings relating to the operation of Examination Boards. Other duties include consideration of student progress cases, academic offences and appeals resulting from the decisions of Examination Boards and contributing to projects associated with Examination Board activities.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of the University's policies and procedures for assuring academic quality and standards, together with knowledge and experience of the University's policies and processes relating to assessment, progression and awards in taught courses. Successful candidates will have well-developed analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the University and its partner institutions.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to persuade and inspire academic colleagues and members of professional support services.This post is fixed-term for a period of three years, part-time for 10.8 hours per week (0.3 FTE).
