DepartmentThe Domestic Services section is the largest service group within the University's Estate Management Section. Primarily it is responsible for the provision of cleaning, portering, and waste management services at the University's Colchester campus. It also oversees contractor activities relating to refuse collection, pest control, window cleaning and sanitary services. Duties of the RoleThe post holder will co-ordinate, supervise and motivate cleaning staff so that cleaning standards meet or exceed required standards. The post holder will work closely alongside other members of the supervisory team to ensure that the University's academic and associated buildings are suitably prepared for student, staff and visitor use. The post holder will lead by example when cleaning facilities such as toilets, seminar rooms, corridors, PC labs and communal spaces. In addition to this they will fully support cleaning operatives via effective line management, encouraging a strong team ethos at all times.Skills and qualifications requiredThe ideal candidate will have previous experience of line managing staff at a supervisory level. They will have a good understanding of industry health and safety requirements and will be confident delivering basic training to staff.
