Edge Hotel School
Edge Hotel School opened to students in 2012, supported by the Edge Foundation (an education charity) to provide a new kind of higher education provision in hospitality and events management, where students’ academic study in the classroom is integrated with regular experience working with industry professionals in Wivenhoe House Hotel (a 4-star hotel based on the University of Essex’s Colchester Campus). The School has a strong commitment to delivering exceptionally high quality Higher Education courses with an industry engaged ethos.
Duties of the role
This post will provide student support and direction for students within the Wivenhoe House Hotel, which is a distinguishing element of the student learning experience. The post holder will work with academics and the Heads of Department of the Wivenhoe House to administer, guide and support student learning within the practical sessions including the scheduling of inductions and orientations.
Reporting to the Director of Education (Undergraduate) they will coordinate the student performance review process and have oversight of the briefings and reports that monitor the quality of student experience within the Hotel.
The post holder will also identify times at which students can undertake a range of hospitality and events practical training exercises and deliver these with the agreement and support of the Hotel.
Whilst this is a full time role that covers a conventional working week, there may be requirements to work occasional at weekends to reflect operational and student delivery.
The successful candidate will be joining a small but growing team of academic and professional services colleagues in the School, led by the School’s Director. A collegiate approach and strong commitment to team working will be essential. We expect the successful candidate to demonstrate a passion for our industries and a track record of delivering training within the industry.
