EIRA Knowledge Exchange Lead, Research and Enterprise Office
Job description
Department
With the emergence of the industrial strategy, the role of Universities in providing support to business has never had greater importance. The University of Essex has an exciting opportunity to join our EIRA Team within the Research and Enterprise Office at the Colchester campus to support our activity in this area. The successful applicant will
have an understanding of University research environment and/or commercial R&D. The EIRA Knowledge Exchange Lead will build knowledge exchange connections across Eastern England, using innovation to improve business productivity in support of the EIRA project (Enabling Innovation: Research to Application). EIRA is funded by Research England and will run until March 2021 with a remit to accelerate cluster growth to generate productivity and engage with innovative businesses in the eastern region. The EIRA KE Lead will be working with the Faculty of Science and Health at the University of Essex, and with businesses and start-ups in the region.
Duties of the Role
The EIRA Knowledge Exchange Lead will develop and deliver specific support for EIRA across the EIRA consortium to deliver innovation projects that support the needs of AI businesses through a combination of well-established and more novel methods. Working closely with all EIRA collaborators and partners, the KE Lead will bring together research and expertise from across the consortium, build critical mass and coordinate with local KE teams and network partners to link with business collaborators. The successful applicant will deliver project outcomes that will increase and amplify the economic impact of sector expertise at EIRA partners within the local business community.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate should have a demonstrable track record of working with technology businesses and experience of an academic research environment. Understanding of the specific economic challenges of technology businesses and the business landscape of eastern England would be desirable. Education to at least degree level (or equivalent qualification) is an essential requirement.
At the University of Essex internationalism is central to who we are and what we do. We are committed to being a cosmopolitan, internationally-oriented university that is welcoming to staff and students from all countries and a university where you can find the world in one place.
