Talent Development Centre/Academic SectionThe University is committed to providing a supportive and transformational study environment for its students at all levels of learning. To further this aim, the Talent Development Centre (TDC) provides in-sessional academic skills support through teaching, workshop and drop-in advice provision.
The TDC is looking to recruit additional, part-time tutors for Academic Skills / English for Academic purposes (EAP) to support an expansion in provision. The appointments will be for the period of the Autumn Term (21 September 2018 - 21 December 2018) in the first instance. Teaching hours will depend on the type and range of teaching expertise that can be offered, and will be up to 18 hours.
Duties of the RoleDuties will include the delivery of teaching across levels of HE study in Academic Skills, EAP/English Language according to specialism and experience; preparation of course work and teaching materials; assessment and marking; and some aspects of taught course administration.
Qualifications and Skills requiredSuccessful applicants will have a relevant postgraduate teaching qualification e.g. TEFL-Q diplomas such as Cambridge DELTA, Trinity Dip. TESOL; relevant PGCE or Masters in TESOL, T-EAP or Tertiary Education with Practicum.
They will have experience of teaching English Language (to home as well as international students), EAP and / or academic literacies in a UK HE context. The ability to design and adapt appropriate programmes of study and session materials and familiarity with the use ICT and VLE technology in teaching, course delivery and course administration is also essential.
