Research and Enterprise Office (REO)
With the emergence of the industrial strategy, the role of Universities in providing support to business has never had greater importance. The University of Essex has been growing the number and scale of research projects with business, and is now in the Top 3 Universities in the UK for number of KTP's. The postholder will
coordinate the team of knowledge exchange professional support academic colleagues within the faculties.
Duties of the Role
Based in the Research and Enterprise Office (REO), the post holder will work with academic colleagues to support them in developing links to external organisations to achieve impact from their research. The post holder, in conjunction with Deputy Director - Enterprise of the REO and Head of Business Engagement, will develop strategy to enable growth in attracted from external partners and develop consultancy, CPD and IP commercialisation activities.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful applicant will have an understanding of of academic research and/or commercial R&D environments and be able to translate research output into benefits to business. They will be able to establish credibility with academic colleagues and be comfortable working with colleagues across departments and faculties. With a track record attracting external funding, they will provide leadership to support the continued growth in knowledge exchange activities. Education to degree level (or equivalent qualification) is an essential requirement.
