Essex Sport Essex Sport are committed to making sport available to all through our impressive selection of activities, facilities and sports clubs. With our new GBP 11 million-pound Essex Sport Arena opening in January 2018, we have ambitions to increase our sport development programming across a range of different projects, aimed at students, staff and the local community. We currently engage with over 500 children throughout the year and have ambitious plans to grow our 'Essex Sport Junior' programme, which currently delivers weekly sports coaching sessions and courses, holiday camps and children parties including preschool, primary and secondary school age groups. We are looking for an enterprising individual to further develop their skills in helping us realise our ambitious plans.The Role and Duties We are seeking climbing instructors to join our growing sports development coaching team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, enthusiastic and safe climbing sessions for climbers of all levels, from children and adults to those with physical/learning disabilities. This includes a range of opportunities including junior weekend and afterschool courses, adult courses, birthday parties, private lessons and come and try sessions. Further responsibilities include planning sessions, setting up the equipment in line with health and safety guidelines, keeping an up to date register for all of the sessions, carrying out equipment inspections and responding to customer enquiries, so you'll need good communication and people skills to help create a warm and friendly atmosphere for our customers. You will also be expected to attend scheduled meetings and actively participate in discussions about possible improvements to the products you deliver. We require someone who can use their motivational skills to engage and encourage customers to maintain and extend attendance and deliver consistently high standards of instruction to all customers so that everyone fulfils their potential.Qualifications and skills required You need to have a passion for climbing and working with young people. Previous experience in a customer facing role is highly desirable as you'll deliver excellent customer service. Ideally, you'll already hold NGB climbing qualifications or equivalent, which can be a Single Patch Award (SPA), Climbing Wall Award (CWA) and/or a Climbing Wall Leading Award (CWLA) or the training element in any one of these.How to apply To apply, please submit a CV, your name, email address, phone number and a 300-500 words description as to why you feel you would be an ideal candidate for this position.
