Essex Business SchoolThe Management Science and Entrepreneurship (MSE) Group within the School has an international reputation for its cutting-edge research and education.
To develop further our current education, research and partnership activities, we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Supply Chain Management.
Duties of the RoleThe MSE Group’s teaching and research activities encompass entrepreneurship, marketing, international business and strategy, logistics and supply chains, and business analytics. The post holder will be required to contribute fully to the development of the MSE group through their work in Supply Chain Management, and will play an important role in the development of the teaching, research, development and administration activities of Essex Business School and the MSE Group at Southend.
The purpose of this post is to enhance the School’s research and education profile in the field of supply chain management. The post holder will teach undergraduate and postgraduate units on logistics, supply chain planning and control, and management science modules; supervise research students; and extend the School’s profile regionally, nationally and internationally through activities such as publishing in top peer-reviewed journals and presenting papers at prestigious conferences.
You will be required to design, plan and deliver learning in creative and innovative ways appropriate to the subject area and level; generate external research funding, including in collaboration with colleagues, appropriate in scale to career stage and subject area norms; and engage in individual and/or collaborative research activity (resulting in internationally excellent publications) that is in keeping with REF criteria.
The post-holder will undertake a full range of Education, Research and Leadership and Citizenship responsibilities as detailed in the job pack.
Qualifications and Skills requiredApplicants should have a relevant doctoral level research degree in management or social science or equivalent professional experience or practice or be close to completion of PhD. Applicants should also have proven experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable potential for achieving this.
Experience of designing and planning learning activities (modules, programmes of study, etc.), developing effective learning environments (face to face and/or virtual) and approaches to student support and guidance are essential. Applicants should clearly demonstrate that they have a research agenda, engage in high-quality research activity and are developing a research profile, and should have evidence of a clear publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes. Applicants should also have the ability to publish in internationally recognised, reputable journals.

This is a permanent, full-time role on an ASER (teaching and research) contract and appointment will be made as Lecturer (R). The start date for this post is 1 September 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
