Innovation and Technology Solutions Innovation and Technology Solutions (ITS) provides outstanding IT services and facilities and enables excellence in their use, across the University’s three UK-based campuses, and our international campuses & partner institutions. Our services range from underlying infrastructure technologies, provision of a modern Media Centre, to digital skills training for staff and students. Our vision is of a University where students and staff are provided with the digital tools and processes to enable excellent Education and Research.
We are a community of over 140 staff, working in partnership with our colleagues across the University to deliver innovation and IT services to meet the needs of the University. ITS is organised into six service groups including Commercial Applications, Infrastructure, Software Development, Strategic Projects and Improvement and Technology for People and Place.
The Commercial Applications team is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to approximately 3,500 system users and provides the University’s HR and Commercial system users with a single point of contact for services and facilities provided. This new role is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and changing environment. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and proactive individual to the position of Commercial Applications Administrator.
Duties of the RoleAs a key team member, the Commercial Applications Administrator will provide staff with a professional, high quality customer service response to their queries for information, help, and support. This requires a patient, friendly and diplomatic approach to customer interactions by email, by telephone and in person. The post will also be involved in the development of information to enable customers to find out answers before reaching the Helpdesk.
For many users, the Commercial Applications Helpdesk is the main point of interaction with HR/Payroll and other commercial systems and our aim is to be able to resolve problems and queries quickly and completely wherever possible or to provide accurate referral to specialist colleagues.
You will also assist with system testing, ensuring controls are in place to maintain the integrity of data, security, and helping to ensure process and system documentation is complete, up to date and accessible.

Qualifications and Skills requiredApplicants must possess a minimum of four GCSEs (grade C and above) including Maths, English and ICT (or equivalents).
To be successful in this role, you will have an excellent attention to detail, be good at identifying problems, quickly propose solutions and act as an enthusiastic ambassador of the systems. Strong administration skills along with a methodical approach to undertaking tasks are key.
This is a permanent, part-time post for 21.6 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The posts are normally based at the Colchester campus, but during COVID, according to the duties of the post, remote and flexible working is being deployed.
