The Roles and DutiesThe web portal you will be helping deliver is the Smart Energy Research Lab, a multi-million pound five year big data project with a national profile, which will ingest smart meter data from tens of thousands of UK households. While working on the delivery of the portal into production in the first year, we will also provide opportunities to gain exposure to leading-edge microservices and big data technologies, so that you can eventually mature into a full-stack developer. Duties also include, understanding core technical concepts related to the Smart Energy Research Lab and how to conceive and develop new methods and UX/UI components for this platform as well as designing, coding, testing and correcting documents code or scripts a part of the team to grow the portfolio of deliverables for the Research Lab portal.This post involves access to Government systems, information or data and will be subject to the staff vetting process. Further information can found in the Recruitment Pack. This is a full time, fixed-term position until 31/05/2022. Please note, applications will be considered from anyone looking to work anything above 30 hours per week. The post is fixed term due to funding. Qualifications and SkillsCandidates should have an undergraduate or first degree in a computer-related or data-related discipline as well as proficient understanding of web mark-up, including HTML5 and CSS3. You must have a good understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, particularly ReactJS. Candidates should also have good numeracy skills as well as experience of working with data from web services.This post involves access to Government systems, information or data and will be subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) staff vetting process.
