This is an exciting opportunity to lead the planning and organisation of our graduation ceremonies as major institutional events to celebrate our students’ achievements. You will also be responsible for policies and processes associated with the conferral of awards, and the issuing of formal certificates and transcripts to students and alumni.
We are looking for an experienced manager with strong organisational skills who is able to lead the planning, organisation and management of our high-profile graduation ceremonies. You will be highly-effective managing a range of varied tasks and priorities, and delivering to deadlines. You will have good judgement and the ability to remain calm and professional when under pressure. You will use your excellent interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships with colleagues across the University in support of graduation, and you will bring a strong customer-service orientation to the planning and delivery of our graduation ceremonies.
The role is also responsible for the development and delivery of our Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) and for the development and implementation of policy and procedures for the issuing of certificates and other formal University documents. You will be effective working within our academic governance frameworks: applying, advising on and developing policy; and preparing reports and papers for formal committees.
As the leader of the Graduation and Awards Team, you will be able to lead and motivate your team, and to innovate and develop the service. You will have strong IT skills and be confident using systems and data to support service delivery and enhancement. You will have experience of managing a budget and will be responsible for managing relationships with suppliers.
This post is fixed-term from 21 February 2022 until 27 January 2023 to cover a period of maternity leave for a permanent member of staff.
