Duties of the Role
The purpose of this post is to enhance the school's research profile and to both contribute to and lead in developing the field of marketing at the school; to develop and actively engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision; and to extend the school's profile regionally, nationally and internationally through collaboration with other institutions.
The post-holder will provide strategic leadership in education; build up a sustained and effective record of impact at a strategic level in relation to teaching and learning; make a substantial contribution to the international profile of the University through the generation of internationally excellent research, scholarship and teaching; pursue research that is world leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour, in keeping with the REF criteria; and generate substantial research income commensurate with subject area norms.
You will also be expected to provide leadership in ensuring your own research and that of others in your department generates impact beyond the academic sphere in keeping with the REF criteria, and undertake senior leadership responsibilities as agreed with the Dean.
The post-holder will undertake a full range of Education, Research and Leadership and Citizenship responsibilities as detailed in the Professor (ASER) job pack.
Qualifications and Skills required
Applicants should hold a relevant doctoral-level research degree in Marketing or relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience or practice and possess a distinguished academic record, including internationally excellent research.
You will have evidence of teaching excellence at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, a sustained record of strategic leadership in both academic practice and academic development, and a strong, sustained record of academic publication at international or world-leading levels of recognition, with evidence of a clear publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes.
We are seeking a candidate to provide academic leadership in a range of appropriate contexts, who possesses a willingness and ability to take on senior administrative roles in the School, and who can demonstrate a commitment to supporting and/or mentoring others, especially those new to teaching/early career.
Appointment to this post will be made as Professor (R) on a Teaching and Research (ASER) contract. The start date for this post can be discussed during the interview.
