Department
The Head of Start-up Support is a key senior role responsible for delivery and development of student and graduate enterprise and entrepreneurship activities, including the dedicated start-up hub and digital creative space within our new Innovation Centre (opening in 2019 on our Knowledge Gateway). You will also work closely with the Employability
and Careers and with Deputy Director - Enterprise to develop our strategic approach to growing activity in this this area to grow the number of student/grad start-ups and support students achieve employment (self-employment) outcomes.
Duties of the role
The post holder will be responsible for the digital creative space within our Innovation Centre that is incorporated within the wider start-up support space. This includes equipment for the development of augmented and virtual reality products, and so an understanding and interest in digital product development and commercialisation will be an advantage. This space will also be used to engage with businesses and wider community within the region.
Skills and qualifications required
You will have excellent leadership skills, a passion for creating new enterprises and will draw on your own experience to enable our students to follow an entrepreneurial career path by development of core skills and practical support. This is an exciting time to lead this important and growing activity within the University with first class facilities embedded within our growing business community on the Knowledge Gateway.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent experience and will hold a project management qualification or experience.
The post is a permanent, full-time role starting as soon as possible. A part-time appointment (0.8 FTE) will be considered.
The post will be based mainly in Colchester but also in Southend (at least one day a week).
