The Central Procurement Unit sits within the larger Finance, Planning and Data Insight section, which has responsibility for managing the University's income and expenditure, ensuring we get value for money in all financial activity and that we comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Duties of the RoleThe main purpose of this role is to provide proactive, enabling support to the Head of Procurement and senior stakeholders, creating the framework for engagement with the market and providing advice on the current state of the market and future options.
The post holder will take a lead role on identified projects including the development, maintenance and implementation of category strategies for all spend categories in the University, ensuring alignment to the University Strategic Plan working collaboratively with similar organisations to maximise mutual benefit.

Qualifications and Skills requiredThe ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent experience and be a fully qualified member of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS).
You should have experience of delivering strategic procurement including the application of sustainable procurement principals to the procurement process to maximise student benefits in the supply chain. In addition, you will be highly organised and have excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively negotiate and influence others, the ability to construct clear and concise arguments to communicate complex messages to a range of stakeholders and a proven track record of collaboration.
