Research and Enterprise OfficeThe University of Essex has an exciting opportunity to join our Enterprise Team within the Research and Enterprise Office at the Colchester campus to support our activity in this area. With the emergence of the industrial strategy, the role of Universities in providing support to business has never had greater importance.
Duties of the role As Knowledge Exchange Manager, you will be responsible for managing external relationships to increase the external income from business engagement activity, focusing on Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) and Department of Maths, to further the University's mission of Excellence in research, and will allow impact to be achieved and external income to be leveraged. Whilst supporting these departments, innovation projects may be interdisciplinary covering the faculties of the University. You will coordinate with colleagues to support the multi-disciplinary research and knowledge exchange projects and funding bids.
With a technical appreciation of AI (including machine learning, natural language processing and computer vision), embedded systems and other research areas, you will develop new relationships with businesses that can benefit from these innovation support, and work with academic colleagues to put in place consultancy and contract research projects.

Qualifications and Skills required
The successful applicant will be educated to degree level, have an understanding of Business University working relationships and knowledge of a research and/or commercial R&D environment in a University setting.
You will have the ability to understand the technical basis for projects in areas relevant to computer science and maths; have good communication and organisational skills; have the ability to co-ordinate tasks with other team members; and have a proactive approach and ability to use own initiative.
You will have a flexible approach to work as you will be required to attend meetings at partner sites and working outside normal office hours.
The role is advertised as full-time at a notional minimum of 36 hours per week, however 4 days at 28.8 hours per week could be considered (where salary will be pro rata).
