This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to join the Marketing and Student Recruitment team, which is part of the University’s Communications and External Relations section.
Duties of the Role
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and creative team responsible for delivering the University’s recruitment events activity, including Open Days and Applicant Days.
Duties will include developing, managing and delivering recruitment events in Colchester and Southend, as well as virtual activity, to ensure a consistently high-quality experience is provided to both undergraduate and postgraduate enquirers and applicants.
The role holder will have overall responsibility for the delivery of a range of events, in addition to working closely with the Senior Recruitment Events Officer to use market intelligence and evaluation to develop new and existing activity. The role will require the post holder to liaise with other teams in professional services and academic faculties as appropriate to maximise event promotion, manage event logistics and contribute to the administration of events systems. The Recruitment Events Officer co-manages the Student Ambassador Scheme and works closely with Accommodation Essex to coordinate the showcasing of student accommodation across all university events.
This post is fixed-term from 28 April 2023 until 26 April 2024 to cover a period of maternity leave for a permanent member of staff. The post holder will be required to work some weekends and evenings.

Skills and qualifications required
The post-holder will hold an honours degree or equivalent level of qualification or experience, as well as excellent event management experience, with experience of managing medium or large-scale events and event evaluation. They will possess experience of working with a broad range of stakeholders with different priorities to deliver on common goals and work well under pressure to manage multiple priorities.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in public speaking and a record of motivating and influencing others. They will be proactive and energetic with a customer-focused and results-orientated approach. This role requires both team and independent working, thus the successful candidate will demonstrate both effective team working and the ability to work from their own initiative.
