THE PROJECTThe University of Essex in partnership with ADC BioScientific Ltd offers an exciting opportunity to a graduate to develop an automated multi-channel gas exchange system capable of measuring plant based gas exchange. The successful candidate will work with both these industrial and academic stakeholders in a project to design and develop a novel photosynthetic gas exchange system capable of automated sampling of multiple plants. ADC's name has been synonymous with quality photosynthetic gas analysis and has developed a reputation for manufacturing and supplying world class instrumentation, which is easy to use, robust and affordable. The purpose of this project is to design and construct a leaf chamber capable of making multiple and simultaneous measurements of leaf photosynthesis, in order to develop a unique and powerful phenotyping tool for 'smart' crop breeding.Applicants able to demonstrate a practical ability to build and develop kit/equipment are encouraged to apply. This post is fixed term for 24 months and is based at ADC BioScientific's offices in Hoddesdon.KTPKnowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are a unique UK-wide activity that help businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity by making better use of the knowledge, technology and skills within universities, colleges and research organisations.
