The DepartmentThis is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) is a large and vibrant department in the Faculty of Science and Health. CSEE is internationally known for its research in a range of areas, and offers an excellent education to its students. The School is expanding, due to increasing student numbers and now wishes to appoint additional lecturers to help us grow.Duties of the postWe wish to enhance the School's existing research in the area of Embedded and Intelligent Systems as well as open up and develop new research activities in Embedded Systems that will become recognized as outstanding and internationally leading. The post will include teaching on computer science, embedded systems or electronic engineering courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. This may include delivering existing modules, developing new ones and generally enhancing our research-led teaching. We aim for excellence in education as well as in research and are looking for candidates who can contribute to both. Relevant research includes one or more areas of Embedded Systems and System-on-Chip technology with focus on aspects of security, power, performance and reliability, advanced embedded systems and processor architectures targeted for cyber physical systems, automotive/industrial, robotics, image processing, networked and distributed sensor nodes / Internet of Things / data analytics and real-time critical systems.Qualifications and Skills requiredApplicants should have a PhD in Computer Science/Electronic Engineering or related discipline; or the expectation of a PhD qualification prior to the start of the appointment. You should also have a good degree in Computer Science/Electronic Engineering or related discipline as well as Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (UKPSF D2) (attained via a recognised higher education teaching qualification, e.g. a postgraduate certificate in HE practice, or by an appropriate accredited process) or the commitment to gain such recognition by the end of their probationary period.We particularly welcome female applicants as they are under-represented at this level.At the University of Essex internationalism is central to who we are and what we do.
