Applications are invited for a fixed-term, full-time post from 01 December 2016 (or soon as possible thereafter) until the end of January 2019. The person appointed will work for the ESRC Business and Local Government Data Research Centre under the supervision of Professor Sena (EBS, Principal Investigator) and Professor Coakley (EBS, Co-investigator).
The Business and Local Government Data Research Centre (BLG DRC) is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council as part of a GBP 64 million investment in a Big Data Network for the social sciences. BLG DRC is one of four national Centres funded to make available and promote the value of big data from business and local government. This is an exciting new initiative that supports the University of Essex strategic priority to become a major national Centre of excellence for data science and data analytics. The post will be based at the Colchester campus.
The successful candidate will have a PhD or be close to completion in a relevant social science or quantitative discipline or have equivalent experience. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in analytics, econometrics, finance data and micro business data from the ONS. Candidates should be graduates of Economics, Finance or Management Science and be in possession of a good postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in this same area.
