Have you ever felt the urge to spread your wings? To unleash your potential to work across boundaries? To have more impact and make more of a difference? Well, this could be the moment you’ve been waiting for.
We are looking for a new Assistant Registrar to work alongside the Registrar & Secretary. One day, that could mean working on the strategic development of our professional services, alongside Heads of Section. The next, it might require you to be co-ordinating the work of a project team with colleagues from parts of the University you’ve never come across before. On yet another, you might be leading the planning for a University-wide meeting or event. In order to succeed in the role, you’ll certainly need experience of the University and be established in your career. Just as important, however, will be your enthusiasm, your confidence to get involved in activities where you are not an expert, and your ability to have an impact in activities requiring strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skills.
If this sounds like you, it matters less what level you are currently working at. This is a role which might be suited to someone who is already established in a senior position and is ready to operate at a more strategic level, or for someone who wants to step into a leadership position and make more of a difference to the development of the University. It is a developmental role, which can stretch you with support to enable you to develop the full range of skills and experiences necessary to succeed.
Requirements
The Assistant Registrar will be an exceptional individual with a creative and innovative approach to team working. You will have experience within a university or similar complex organisation and be able to work effectively alongside senior university leaders in developing and implementing university wide strategy and policy. You will bring to the role an appreciation of policy issues in Higher Education, a flexible approach, a willingness and ability to take on a range of complex tasks and projects on behalf of the Registrar & Secretary across disciplines, and the ability to think strategically while balancing several complex agendas. You will have first class interpersonal and communication skills that allow you to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with colleagues at all levels amongst the University’s academic and professional staff. These will enable you to undertake assignments that may be highly delicate and demanding, requiring tact and discretion as well as strong analytical and presentational skills. You will also need to demonstrate the ability to build personal credibility and respect to operate beyond personal authority with senior internal and external colleagues.
