DepartmentThe School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) is a large and vibrant department in the Faculty of Science and Health. CSEE is internationally known for its research in a range of areas, and offers an excellent education to its students. The School is expanding, due to increasing student numbers and now wishes to appoint additional lecturers to help us grow. As part of this growth we are seeking a new lecturer to enhance the School's existing research in the areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Appointment will be made as Lecturer.Duties of the RoleThe successful candidate will become a member of the Analytics and Data Science research group and will also collaborate with staff in other research groups. We are particularly interested in candidates with research expertise in one of more of the following areas: Analytics and Data Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Causal Inference, Interpretability or Visualisation. Candidates are expected to have excellent programming skills and to be able to teach programming at UG and PG level if required.You will be expected to deliver excellent research and teaching, generate research income, to contribute to the administration and management of the School, and to the local, regional and international profile of the Department.We wish to enhance the School's existing research as well as open up and develop new research activities that will become recognized as outstanding and internationally leading. The post will include teaching on our courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. This may include delivering existing modules, developing new modules and generally enhancing our research-led teaching. We aim for excellence in education as well as research and are looking for candidates who can contribute to bothSkills and qualifications requiredThe successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline, or be close to completion of a PhD. You will have proven experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, and of designing and planning learning activities.
