The Role and DutiesApplications are invited for a full-time post-doctoral researcher to work on a 10-month research project examining the effects of relative versus absolute evaluative judgments and emotional impact on people's reactions to victimisation. The project investigators are Prof Mitchell Callan (Essex, UK), Prof James Olson (Western Ontario, Canada), and Dr Annelie Harvey (Anglia Ruskin, UK). The project is funded by The Leverhulme Trust and will build on and extend the investigators' recent research on this topic. Based in the Department of Psychology at the University of Essex (Colchester, UK), the post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for implementing and conducting research studies, and will contribute to the dissemination of findings from the project.
Duties of the post include: day to day responsibility for the implementation of research duties, the design and programming of online surveys and computer-controlled experimental tasks; the recruitment of participants; the collection of data and the management and analysis of quantitative data. The post holder will also participate in the preparation of research outputs.
It is expected that the successful applicant be available to start work 1st of August 2017. The appointment will be made at Post-doctoral Researcher level.
Qualifications and skills requiredThe successful candidate will have a PhD in Psychology (or near completion of this PhD with all empirical work towards the PhD completed) and well as a master's degree (at distinction level or equivalent) in Research Methods in Psychology.
