Job description
School of Sport, Rehabilitation & Exercise Sciences (SRES)
This is an exciting time to join our new School, which opened in August 2017. We offer academic provision in sports and exercise science, sports therapy, physiotherapy and associated areas, combined with significant new investment we intend to grow into a distinctive world leading group. Our
sport and wellbeing research covers both health and exercise in the general population and the performance of elite athletes, and members of our teaching staff have provided sports science and therapeutic support at Olympic Games and World Championships.
Duties of the Role
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy to lead the BSc programme. You will develop high quality research and education related to sports therapy through the establishment of an internationally excellent research programme, the publication of high quality research papers and the development of innovative approaches to teaching. Other aspects of the role include supervision of postgraduate research students and other leadership, teaching and administration duties as requested by the Head of School.
Appointment will be made as Senior Lecturer.
Skills and qualifications required
You will possess a relevant doctoral level research degree in a related discipline and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, or the ability to gain such recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate by the end your probationary period. You should also be a Member of The Society of Sports Therapists or eligible for membership of the Society and demonstrate a sustained record of effectiveness in higher education, incorporating the organisation, leadership and management of specific aspects of provision. You will have an established and internationally recognised research profile, with a well-developed future research agenda alongside a strong track record of publications and income generation. You will have an established professional reputation in sports therapy or a related area of professional practice.
The expected start date for this post is 01 October 2019 or as close thereafter as possible.
