Job description
The Department
The School of Biological Sciences is seeking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic post-doctoral Senior Research Officer to work in the Computational Chemistry Laboratory at the University of Essex on a project funded by the Leverhulme Trust.
Role and Duties
The post will require use of computational chemistry techniques, particularly
molecular dynamics simulations and Markov state modelling, and involves collaboration with the experimental group of Dr Graham Ladds, Pharmacology, Cambridge. The successful candidate will be required to apply these techniques to understand the structure, function and dynamics of the adenosine A1 receptor, with a view to understanding bias. The post holder will also carry out research as directed by the Principal Investigator, and present information to various audiences on research findings and progress.
Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate should hold an honours degree in biological or physical sciences and have a PhD in a relevant biological or physical science area (or have the relevant PhD submitted).You should also have experience of computational chemistry and a track record of carrying out high quality research.
Appointment to this fixed-term post will be from 1 October 2017 or as soon as possible for up to 30 months.
