The School of Biological SciencesThe School of Biological Sciences is large and diverse and provides a vibrant research and teaching environment with a strong collegiate culture. We have a global reputation for our research: two-thirds of our research was rated as 'world leading' or 'international excellent' in REF 2014. We conduct research in four main areas comprising: Genomics and Computational Biology; Ecology and Environmental Microbiology; Protein Structure and Disease Mechanisms; Plant Productivity. Our aim is to provide a challenging and rewarding environment for both our students and staff.Duties of the RoleAs part of our Technical Services Team, the post-holder will provide technical support for teaching and research activities within the School of Biological Sciences including responsibility for health and safety, providing analytical services, overseeing day-to-day laboratory operations, maintaining and repairing equipment, developing methods and developing specialist in-house equipment. This role will be predominantly supporting our Plant Productivity Group. Skills and qualifications requiredIt is essential that the post-holder holds an appropriate qualification or relevant experience in a laboratory environment. You will be familiar with a range of routine life science instrumentation and have experience of provision of sterile services, waste disposal etc. You will be proficient in the use of IT (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
