Your role will be important in ensuring high standards of health and safety are maintained for the University's staff, students and visitors.Duties of the RoleReporting directly to the Head of Health and Safety, you will be responsible for providing general health and safety advice, training, support and monitoring across a wide range of risk areas. This will include the role of Lead Adviser for the University's subsidiary company, University of Essex Campus Services, whose services include catering, accommodation, a day nursery, a sports centre and a hotel. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining health and safety standards and the content of online training packages, performing health and safety audits and running and assisting with campaigns to positively promote health and safety.Skills and qualifications requiredWe are looking for a Chartered member of IOSH, who holds a degree, diploma or NVQ/SVQ level 5 in Occupational Health and Safety. You will have significant experience of advising on health and safety with a broad risk profile and you will be proactive and self- motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills. You will also need to demonstrate a flexible approach and the ability to communicate health and safety in a simple and understandable way that takes account of the audience.
