Lecturer in Employment Law and Human Resource Management, EBS
Job description
Essex Business School
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Organisation Studies and Human Resource Management Group at Essex Business School. If successful, you will be part of a team of over 15 research active colleagues with a global reputation for their work in critical organisation studies, HRM, and equality and diversity.
We are keen to appoint
a talented scholar with experience in the field of Employment Law and Human Resource Management and, ideally, with the ability to contribute to the teaching of introductory business law more generally across the School. We would, therefore, especially welcome applications from those with expertise in:
*
UK and international employment law
*
Corporate and business law
The offer is competitive, and includes a generous relocation allowance, the possibility of paid research leave, and research funds.
Duties of the Role
The purpose of this post is to enhance the School's research profile though high-quality publications, grant activity and impact case studies; contribute to the design and delivery of teaching in the area of Employment Law and Human Resource Management, alongside actively engaging in undergraduate and postgraduate supervision; and undertake, where appropriate, administrative and leadership responsibilities within the School and Group.
You will be expected to:
*
Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality social scientific research in your field or specialism, engaging in individual and/or collaborative research activity that is in keeping with REF criteria, and generating external research income (appropriate in scale to career stage and subject area norms).
*
Contribute to the University's mission of excellence in education by delivering teaching across a range of modules, providing substantive and effective student support, and undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate supervision.
*
Engage with external stakeholders, contribute to the effective administration of the Group and/or School, and enhance the scholarly reputation of the School and the University Department, and experience of the demands of working within a business school environment.
Alongside this, a full list of key responsibilities and main duties (Education, Research and Leadership and Citizenship) can be found within the Lecturer (ASER) job pack.
Qualifications and Skills required
You should have a doctoral level research degree in HRM and Employment Law, or related discipline, or be close to completing your studies; evidence of research output - either published or publishable - that is of peer-reviewed international quality, and experience of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels or demonstrable potential for achieving this. In addition, evidence of a research agenda and evidence of a clear publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercises is essential.
We are advertising for a range of opportunities within our Essex Business School. These roles have a range of start dates commencing between 1 October 2019 and 30 June 2020. Please see the job pack for specific details of the start date of each post.
We particularly welcome applications from those who identify as female or non-binary and those from an ethnic minority, as they are under-represented at this level.
This is a permanent, full-time post on an ASER (teaching and research) contract and the appointment will be made as Lecturer (R).
At the University of Essex internationalism is central to who we are and what we do. We are committed to being a cosmopolitan, internationally-oriented university that is welcoming to staff and students from all countries and a university where you can find the world in one place.
Please see the further detail link below for a full job description and person specification which outlines the full duties, skills, qualifications and experience needed for this role plus more information relating to the post. We recommend you read this information carefully before making an application.
