An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Energy and Carbon Reduction at the University of Essex.
About the role
Reporting directly to the Head of Sustainability and Grounds you will be the strategic lead for delivering the University’s energy, carbon and water reduction aspirations. You will play a critical role in delivering the University’s most ambitious Sustainability Sub Strategy to date, achieving net zero scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 2035.
Leading the development and implementation of the University’s various energy and carbon reduction policies and strategies along with related action plans, you will create and deliver a Carbon Management Plan that will successfully achieve the University’s net zero carbon emissions targets.
You will manage a team of three energy and carbon reduction colleagues, developing complex built environments across three campuses to reduce energy, carbon and water use. You will plan and lead the delivery of a substantial increase of renewable energy generation at the University while securing sufficient internal and external funding to deliver the Carbon Management Plan and Sustainability Sub-Strategy.
