Department
We are looking to appoint a passionate and proactive individual to the position of Admissions Team Leader. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a varied, team-based role within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The role is in the Admissions team, part of the University’s Communications and External Relations section. The primary focus of the Admissions team is to deliver a positive experience to applicants during the admissions process.
Duties of the Role
As part of the Admissions team, you will play a key role in supporting other Admissions managers in co-ordinating and managing the work of the team throughout the annual admissions cycle. The post-holder will work collaboratively with the colleagues in Admissions and across the University. You will help ensure that the Admissions team provides a high quality, consistent and efficient admissions service, and that selection decisions are made in accordance with the University’s published admissions policies.
This is an extremely varied role, and other specific duties include: formal line management responsibility for three staff within Admissions; monitoring and managing the overall workload of the team, delivering briefings and training for staff involved in recruitment and admissions; developing and maintaining high level guidance documentation, making decisions on complex application queries; and making decisions on the acceptability of qualifications for entry to the University. You will also be part of the senior team of managers responsible for the arrangements for the annual Confirmation and Clearing events.
Skills and qualifications required
You will be a highly organised individual who has excellent written and oral communication skills; in addition, you will have the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritising effectively in order to meet deadlines whilst giving close attention to detail. You will also have an ability to acquire knowledge and understanding of detailed policies and procedures, and be able to interpret and apply them accurately. You should also hold a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent qualification or experience.
Although experience and knowledge of admissions in the HE sector would be an advantage, it is not an essential requirement as full training and induction will be provided.
Please see the attached job pack, which contains a full job description and person specification which outlines the full duties, skills, qualifications and experience needed for this role plus more information relating to the post. We recommend you read this information carefully before making an application. Applications should be made on-line, but if you would like advice or help in making an application, or need information in a different format, please contact resourcing@essex.ac.uk
