The Communications and External Relations Section is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead, develop and project manage the collaborative outreach hub (Essex Collaborative Outreach Network) for the county of Essex.
The HEFCE-funded National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) aims to increase the number of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in higher education by 2020.
We are looking for an individual to develop the Essex Collaborative Outreach Network by identifying existing networks and establishing new ones where appropriate. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, will be needed as well as an ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders including students, teachers, employers and funders. The individual will need to have an understanding of the outreach and widening access agenda and experience in creating and delivering outreach activity where appropriate.
The main office will be based at the University of Essex, Colchester campus, however there will be extensive travel throughout Essex. Alongside a central team, once the programme is developed, the manager will also oversee staff in FE and HE institutions across the county.
Experience of managing staff is desired as well as managing budgets and the ability to coordinate evaluation and submit monitoring information.
The post will be based alongside the Outreach team based in the Communications and External Relations Section.
The funding for the National Collaborative Outreach Programme is currently until December 2018. A further two years funding is subject to the success of the programme. More information about the NCOP can be found at http://www.hefce.ac.uk/sas/ncop/.
