Academic Section The Academic Section is part of the University's Professional Services and is headed by the Academic Registrar. The Section is responsible for managing all aspects of student and academic administration in partnership with Departments, Schools and Faculties. The Section plays a central role in delivering the University's commitment to excellence in education across the institution through the development and implementation of the University's Education Strategy.Working in partnership with the Academic Registrar's Office, the main directorates of the Academic Section are: Academic Services and Student Life. The Student Life directorate draws together key elements of the student experience, particularly those relating to the educational aspects of student life and student success. This includes Student Support (including wellbeing, accessibility services, residence life, student finance, chaplaincy, the Student Services Hubs), Employability and Careers andStudent Engagement.This post will work within the Student Support teams, focusing on support for the Student Services. Duties of the RoleWorking as part of a diverse and busy team, you will provide proactive and professional support to the Student Support team. This role will particularly provide support to funding advice and co-ordination, registration and general advice across all three of our campuses. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of our information, advice and guidance services and provide initial response to students and staff in response to enquiries received by telephone and email. You will undertake a range of administrative functions to support the delivery of our services. You will also play a role in supporting implementation of the commitments and actions of the Service's Continuous Improvement Programme.Skills and qualifications requiredApplicants should possess a minimum of 5 GCSE passes at grades A-C or equivalent, including English Language and Maths.The successful candidate will have excellent administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to deal effectively with multiple priorities to meet deadlines. You will be able to work sensitively with confidential information and respond to telephone and email enquiries calmly and confidently, including those from distressed or troubled individuals. You will have excellent communication skills, including a good standard of written English, and be open to new ideas and ways of working. Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to establish productive working relationships with a wide range of people and to work as part of a team, supporting all levels of the processes and procedures employed to deliver appropriate and timely services and support to students.
