The Competition and Competitiveness Project is a research project based in the School of Philosophy and Art History. It is funded by a Leverhulme Trust Research Leadership Award and will run for four years. The aim of this project is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the different forms of competition and competitiveness and the role they play in a wide range of social practices and institutions (markets, science, sports).
The post-holder will support a research team led by the PI and consisting of three Senior Research Officers and a PhD student.
Duties of the Role
The post-holder will provide administrative support to the Competition and Competitiveness Project and its Principal Investigator across all areas of project activities, including: general administrative tasks, monitoring the Project’s email inbox, updating its website and social media feeds, booking travel for members of the project team, processing expenses, organising conferences and workshops, preparing financial reports for the funder, assistance with research grant application, communications, and editing/dissemination of research outputs.
Skills and qualifications required
The role requires strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to engage appropriately with colleagues across the University, as well as with partners. In particular, the post-holder must have experience of working effectively to a very high standard both independently and as part of a team, maintaining webpages and content creation, updating social media feeds, and organizing and running events. They also must have proven IT skills and a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft packages, be able to demonstrate effective written communication skills, be able to show initiative and the ability to be pro-active, and have excellent interpersonal skills to deal with telephone, email and face to face contact.
