DepartmentThe EIRA Knowledge Exchange Lead - Biotech will build knowledge exchange connections across eastern England, using innovation to improve business productivity in support of the EIRA project (Enabling Innovation: Research to Application). EIRA is funded by Research England and will run from 2018-2021 with a remit to accelerate cluster growth to generate a more fertile supply chain and improve the attractiveness of the region to inward investors. In addition, the consortium will harness the combined capacity to support an expansion in KE activities across the region. The project is led from the University of Essex's Research & Enterprise Office (REO) and will be delivered in collaboration with the Universities of Kent and East Anglia and four other partners in the region. The EIRA KE Lead - Biotech will be working with the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Essex.Duties of the RoleThe EIRA Knowledge Exchange Lead will develop and deliver specific support for the Biotech theme across the EIRA consortium to deliver innovation projects that support the needs of business through a combination of well-established and more novel methods. Working closely with all EIRA collaborators and partners, the KE Lead will bring together research and expertise from across the consortium, build critical mass and coordinate with local KE teams and network partners to link with business collaborators. The successful applicant will deliver project outcomes that will increase and amplify the economic impact of sector expertise at EIRA partners within the local business community. Skills and qualifications requiredThe successful candidate should have a demonstrable track record of working with business in the Biotech area, experience of an academic research environment, and specialist knowledge in the Biotech sector.
