The opportunity has arisen to join Essex Business School as an Academic Administrator at our Southend Campus. Essex Business School (EBS) is a growing, ambitious and entrepreneurial community of more than 2,000 students, academics and practitioners from across the world.
EBS Professional Services are responsible for the day-to-day operation
of the School, supporting the delivery of our teaching and research. Operating from both Colchester and Southend campuses, the staff of 40 work supporting specific functions of their teams; Accreditation, Academic Services, EBS Southend, Executive Education, Executive Services and Student Services.
Duties of the Role
The Academic Administrator is responsible to the Academic Officer and Deputy Manager for providing high quality administrative support for the academic programmes based at the Essex Business School Southend Campus, and will be expected to work in accordance with the School's principles, values and behaviours.
The Academic Administrator will provide administration support in relation to courses, modules, assessment and student records and will support the work of the administration team as a whole. They will contribute to effective communication and engagement within a culture of strong partnership working with academic staff and integrated cross-campus working within the School. They will also contribute to a culture of excellence in service delivery, sharing of best practice and continuous improvement in academic services.
This post is based in Southend, however you will also work at the Colchester when required.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate must have significant administrative experience with a proven track record of working independently and proactively, strong organisational skills, excellent time management and evidence of meeting deadlines while working in a demanding environment. Excellent IT skills are required. You will also have superb written and verbal communication skills to enable you to work proactively with academic staff and the central University. You will have the ability to understand and apply University policies and procedures correctly. High standards of accuracy and attention to detail are essential and the ability to proof read documents is also a requirement of the role. You will have a minimum of five GCSEs, including English and Maths, at grade A-C (or equivalent).
