The DepartmentThe Academic Section, headed by the Academic Registrar, provides a wide range of services to students and departments to support the academic provision of our University.
The Role and dutiesWe are looking for a professional and enthusiastic individual to be our new Deputy Timetable Manager. The Timetable team is responsible for the teaching timetable, the management and organisation of the room booking service and the automated class allocation to support online student timetables. The team provides an essential service supporting the student experience and the delivery of the University's courses.
You will manage the day-to-day operation of timetabling and lead the room booking service. You will be responsible for accurate timetabling data using specialist software packages to support the publication of the annual teaching timetable. To achieve this, you will need to work collaboratively with colleagues in professional services and academic departments, providing guidance on the University's policies and procedures. You will have the opportunity to take forward a number of projects to enhance the service.
This role provides you with the opportunity to apply and develop your team leader skills; lead on implementing service improvements; and play a key part in delivering a core higher education process working with staff and students across the University. You will acquire transferable management skills and experience, along with specialist knowledge of a key academic support area.
Qualification and skills requiredYou will have recent experience of contributing to the delivery of a successful service and will be confident working with bespoke databases. You will have excellent organisational, communication and relationship building skills, with a proven ability to work well as part of a team. You will have the ability to manage a team, to ensure effective prioritisation of multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and delivering good customer service.
A positive attitude, contributing ideas to take forward the work of the team and the ability to remain calm under pressure is essential.
An honours degree (or substantial equivalent experience) is an essential requirement of the role.
