About the University of Essex and SEA Essex SDN BHD
SEA Essex is a subsidiary of the University of Essex, located in Kuala Lumpur, and forms a part of our network of five regional offices around the world. Our other regional offices are in Africa (Lagos), the Middle East (Dubai), The South Asia/Indian Subcontinent region (Delhi), and China (Beijing and Shanghai). We also have Essex-based teams with country expertise for recruiting students from European countries, the Americas and Japan. Across these locations University teams recruit new international students to our campuses in Colchester, Southend and Loughton, forge partnerships and networks, host alumni and stakeholder events, and understand local knowledge to enrich our students' experience.
We are now seeking a Recruitment Officer to join our South-East Asia Regional International Office team working for SEA Essex SDN BHD and to be based in Kuala Lumpur.
Duties of the Role
The position will support our work with stakeholders in the region, including prospective and current students, alumni, agents, schools, sponsors and institutional partners. The post-holder will also be involved in developing new education and research relationships within the region. This position will also be required to provide full support by working closely with senior manager to increase the number of students recruited from within the region.
The position will involve significant periods of travel and requires experience of student recruitment work in a higher education environment within East and / or South East Asia.
The post-holder will report Senior Regional Manager SEA and work closely with staff in the UK including colleagues in Admissions; Marketing; Alumni Relations; Partnerships; International Recruitment and; academic departments.
Skills and qualifications required
We are looking for someone with a minimum two years of relevant work experience in education marketing, recruitment, or relevant industry (Indonesia and Singapore would be advantageous), and who is fluent in English and at least one major regional language (Mandarin, Cantonese or Bahasa Indonesia). The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills; including being able to lead a campaign or coordinating project planning
The willingness to work outside of office hours is essential due to frequent travel requirements. Travel requirements would be within the region and occasionally to the UK (at least 15 weeks a year).
