Innovation and Technology Solutions Innovation and Technology Solutions (ITS) provides outstanding IT services and facilities and enables excellence in their use, across the University’s three UK-based campuses, and our international campuses & partner institutions. Our services range from underlying infrastructure technologies, provision of a modern Media Centre, to digital skills training for staff and students. Our vision is of a University where students and staff are provided with the digital tools and processes to enable excellent Education and Research.
We are a community of over 140 staff, working in partnership with our colleagues across the University to deliver innovation and IT services to meet the needs of the University. ITS is organised into six service groups including Commercial Applications, Infrastructure, Software Development, Strategic Projects and Improvement and Technology for People and Place.
The University is looking for a Business Systems Analyst to develop and support client/server and web based corporate business information systems.
Duties of the RoleThe Business Systems Team supports the administration of systems that underpin Finance and HR operations, which in turn facilitates and enables learning, teaching and research. Ensuring the availability, integrity, and security of the University’s information assets is vital to the smooth running of these systems and services.
Based in the Business Systems Team, a team within Commercial Applications, the post holder will work closely with colleagues in Finance, HR and Innovation and Technology Solutions, while supporting up to 4,500 end users in the University and Student Union.
The Business Systems Analyst will provide technical support to internal staff for finance related systems. In addition, the role will undertake projects for the Business Systems Team to assist with system implementations, reporting, data analysis, upgrades and product development. The role will primarily focus on finance systems and related project support.

Qualifications and Skills requiredThe post holder will possess a degree or equivalent qualification/experience and proven application development experience in a modern development environment.
Self-motivated with a practical approach to problem solving and systems development, applicants will require strong written and verbal communications and be able to communicate effectively with staff, students or managers with widely differing levels of technical understanding.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of SQL programming and, ideally, experience in Unit4 Business World or Midland iTrent.
Whilst the post holder will be part of the Business Systems Team, they must have the ability to work independently and make decisions as necessary. They will thrive in a collaborative team environment, be able to multi-task and quickly adapt to change.
This is a fixed-term, full-time post for 12 months.
