DepartmentThe School of Health & Social Care has an excellent reputation for teaching and research in health and social care. Our academic members of staff (approx. 75) include occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychological therapists, nurses, social workers, oral health practitioners and sociologists. The School is run over 2 campuses, based at Southend and Colchester. Duties of the RoleThe School of Health and Social Care is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy. We would particularly welcome applications from individuals that are keen to develop research, drawing from, and building upon, existing research expertise within the school and applicant's own research profile. The post also includes a significant contribution to our Occupational Therapy courses at Colchester campus (these are run at UG and PG level). It is expected that as a senior member of staff you would take on the role of Subject Lead, providing strategic guidance and practical support to the Programme Leads and undertake module leadership and teaching / assessment duties. Key duties of the post include engaging in curriculum development, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and research supervision at both an individual and a strategic level. Also to provide research leadership and engage in activities that will enhance the research profile of the department. Duties also involve designing and delivering a broad range of innovative teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.Skills and qualifications requiredThis role will require management, administration, supervision, and support for staff alongside, assessment and teaching of students on our existing modules, and generally enhancing our research-led teaching in Occupational Therapy. We aim for excellence in research as well as in education and are looking for candidates who can contribute to both.The candidate should have a relevant doctoral level research degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent professional experience or practice as well as Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate. The candidate should also have HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist, or an equivalent EU/ International registration as well as a record of, or demonstrable potential for, academic leadership.This post can be considered on a part-time basis or be offered as a job-share.
