The UK Data Archive, based at the University of Essex, is looking for an intelligent and committed web developer who has a passion for delivering modern, responsive web interfaces.
Among the websites you will be helping deliver and maintain are www.ukdataservice.ac.uk, www.data-archive.ac.uk and other internal administrative web applications.
Duties of the role
As Web Developer, you will be working principally on the core web portfolio of the UIK Data Service in the first year. We will provide opportunities to gain exposure to leading-edge micro-services and big data technologies, so that you can eventually progress into a full-stack developer.

This is a full time, fixed-term position until 31 March 2021, due to temporary funding source. Please note, applications will be considered from anyone looking to work anything above 30 hours per week.
This post involves access to Government systems, information or data and will be subject to the staff vetting process. Further information can found in the Recruitment Pack.
Skills and Qualifications required
In order to be considered for this position, you must hold a degree in a computer-related or data-related discipline.
You will have experience in the following; working with data from web services, handling JSON data structures and IDEs such as Visual Studio or VSCode. You must also have a good understanding in the following; Web mark-up, client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, and search engine and indexing principles.
We have outlined a number of key skills and abilities that you will have in order to be successful including; interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, self-motivated, with the ability to manage a diverse workload.
