In particular you will be building on ground-breaking work we have carried out in the area of Information-centric networking and software defined networking (SDN) to scale service deployment in Fog computing and mitigate attacks through SDN.Duties of the RoleThe University of Essex has extensive experience in the area of networking and providing networking testbeds. In this role you will be working in our well-equipped Network Convergence Laboratory using cloud and SDN systems to demonstrate your research in an EU-wide testbed that you will also support for the SerIoT project.
The successful candidate will also be required to engage in individual and/or collaborative research activity resulting in internationally excellent publications that is in keeping with Research Excellence Framework (REF) criteria, as well as to deliver the research objectives defined by the EU H2020 SerIoT grant and research project. The successful candidate will also undertake or manage practical elements of research such as setting up and conducting experiments, developing questionnaires and conducting fieldwork, recording data and identifying trends or patterns. Skills and Qualifications RequiredApplicants must have completed a PhD in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent professional experience or practice and have extensive experience with network modelling, architectures and protocols. Good verbal and written communication skills are also required. The successful candidate should also have evidence of a developing research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile as well as experience of working with developing and/or maintaining research resources used within a Department or wider user community external to the Department (examples include household surveys, databases, specialist equipment and infrastructure, software packages and computer models). The successful candidate should also have experience of the ability to formulate modules of networks and analyse them.
