Set in the peaceful surroundings of Wivenhoe Park on our Colchester Campus, our Day Nursery offers high quality day care to children from 3 months to 5 years. We serve the local community, University staff and students.
Duties of the Role
We are currently recruiting for a qualified Senior Early Years Educator to join our friendly and diverse senior team at the Day Nursery. This post is fixed-term for 12 months to cover maternity leave, and the hours of work are 38 hours per week, operational time is Monday – Friday between 8am and 6pm but you will only be required to work your 38 hours over 4 days.
Additional responsibilities include, to monitor health and safety within your room, making necessary changes to the environment if needed; ensure the smooth running of the Day Nursery rooms through effective staff delegation; host regular meetings for your team and facilitate staff training.

Qualifications and skills required:
You will have an NVQ level 3 in childcare or equivalent and have previous experience of leading a team within a childcare setting and experience of working with all age ranges under 5. You must also have a Certificate in Paediatric First Aid, a Level 2 Certificate in Safeguarding Children and a minimum GCSE Grade C, or equivalent, in English and Mathematics.
You will have an understanding of Early Learning Journals and record keeping, and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as on own initiative.
Due to the nature of the work, this appointment is subject to a criminal record check, known as a Disclosure. Must be able to undertake the manual aspects of the post, some of which will require physical effort.
