Department
The People and Culture section consists of three sub-sections, Employee Relations and Reward, Organisational Development and Workplace Health and Wellbeing.
Duties of the role
We’re looking for an Organisational Development Adviser to join our People & Culture section at the University of Essex. This is an important role for us as we are about to begin implementing a new People Supporting Strategy taking us to 2025. In our team you will have an opportunity to work collaboratively on several key projects including supporting professional development, developing employment policy, and increasing employee engagement through initiatives and networks. One of the first priorities will be to collaborate with our community as we enhance our performance, development, and review systems. With every project you work on we will ask you to champion our commitment to celebrate diversity, challenge inequality, and build an inclusive environment for every member of our community.
This OD position is about supporting change in a large organisation which can be challenging but you will be working in a team which works collaboratively, uses professional judgement, and can adapt quickly to change. If you would like to join us you will be able to use your expertise and creativity to challenge conventional thinking, but we will also ask you to see things from different perspectives and inspire confidence and trust in others.
Skills and qualifications required
In order to be successful, it is essential that you have experience in the following; working on initiatives designed to deliver cultural and behavioural change, successfully managing several projects/activities at the same time, using data to inform effective decision-making and influence others, and facilitating workshops and/or delivering presentations.
If you already have experience of organisational development or would like to start building your expertise in this area, then we would welcome a conversation.
At the University of Essex, internationalism and diversity is central to who we are and what we do. We are committed to being a cosmopolitan, internationally oriented university that is welcoming to staff and students from all countries, faiths and backgrounds, where you can find the world in one place.
To support this commitment we have our Global Forum, a staff-led network that promotes and celebrates the rich cultural diversity among Essex staff, and our Colchester campus based Faith Centre, which hosts regular services, meetings and events organised by our chaplains and faith representatives.
