Estates and Campus ServicesThe Estates and Campus Services teams deliver a wide range of services for the University from catering to sports facilities, from accommodation to grounds maintenance, and from estates management to the luxury hotel, Wivenhoe House. Our teams aim to deliver a professional and seamless service to students, staff and visitors.Our work supports the University in the development of new facilities, the ongoing development of vibrant campus communities and optimising reinvestment to support development opportunities.We are looking for a Senior Facilities Manager with a wealth of top level experience and exceptional delivery and attention to detail who has a real passion for what they do to lead the hard and soft FM services at our Southend and Loughton campuses.Duties of the RoleYou will strategically develop, coordinate and manage the hard and soft FM services at our Southend and Loughton campuses, in consultation with technical support colleagues based at the Colchester campus, whilst further developing opportunities for working across teams.Ensuring adequate provision of maintenance, security and domestic services at all times by effective management of staff resources and function and providing effective client focussed communication to users identifying opportunities for service development and effective communication at senior level to ensure coordination of technical support and on site delivery function.A full list of duties can be found in the jobpack.Skills and qualifications requiredYou will need to hold a recognised Facilities Management (BIFM) and/or surveying/maintenance qualification or demonstrable experience gained at senior management level covering both hard and soft FM services. Experience at senior and strategic level of directing and managing a diverse range of hard and soft FM services as well as experience regarding the management of a diverse range of facilities services, budget and a large team are essential.You will have experience of directing and managing a large multi-functional team across a diverse range of facilities functions as well as experience in the management of large and complex budgets and experience of working in a customer focussed environment. The ability to multi task in an operationally demanding environment; be a confident decision maker and demonstrate a logical approach to work and possess good problem solving skills is essential.At the University of Essex internationalism is central to who we are and what we do.
