The Student Services department is here to ensure that students at Essex experience a kick ass membership and have access to high quality Venues, Retail Offerings, Events, Catering outlets and an SU run Lettings Department. They are supported by the Premises Department who oversee maintenance and cleaning. No two days in the department are the same and the department embraces the Work Hard, Play Hard ethos. It is a fast paced, dynamic and challenging department that consistently strives to deliver its vital stats to ensure students at Essex have the best time while here.
Reporting to the Bar and Catering Operations Manager you will be responsible for the day to day operation of any of the SU’s licensed venues and will take on additional responsibilities across all venues to help ensure that we are able to offer the best experience for our Students. You will be ensuring that standards are maintained and that customer needs are met. You will be expected to work regular late nights and weekends in line with venue opening times. You will;

Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and deliver excellent customer service

Ability to work as part of a team, supporting the work of colleagues and overseeing student staff
Excellent interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of MS Office
Awareness of risk assessments, health and safety and child protections considerations in relation to relevant activities
Ensure all data and information is managed in line with GDPR Regulations

Holds a Personal License (or is able to undertake and pass)
Experience of Stock Management including use of back office stock management programs
Demonstrate shift management experience in a busy licensed venue
Good organisational and events management skills and ability to prioritise own workload
Evidence of successfully recruiting, training and motivating teams of staff
Experience of maintaining an EPOS system
