Academic Section
The Academic Section is part of the University's Professional Services and is headed by the Academic Registrar. The Section is responsible for managing all aspects of student and academic administration and plays a central role in delivering the University's commitment to excellence in education across the University.
Duties of the Role
Essex Abroad is looking to appoint an innovative and highly motivated Assistant International Collaborations Manager to develop and deliver initiatives to help achieve the University's income generation targets, as well as supporting the work of Essex Abroad to enable at least 20% of Undergraduate students to have an international experience by graduation.
The main areas of responsibility relate to the coordination of all forms of inbound and outbound student mobility for a designated region or set of countries. This will include coordination of leading on the study abroad recruitment action plans; acting as the Institutional ISEP coordinator and line managing a team of two: a marketing and communications officer and an administration assistant to ensure efficient and effective planning and delivery of marketing, communications and events plans on behalf of Essex Abroad.
Skills and Qualifications required
The role would suit those with a customer focus, excellent organisational and planning skills, high standards of accuracy and attention to detail, and a flexible approach to work. The duties of the post are varied and wide-ranging, and as you will be responsible for providing high quality information, advice and guidance support, your public speaking skills will be a significant asset.
The successful candidate will be an effective team player, who is proactive, self-motivated, flexible and able to deal with rapidly changing situations. You will need to be able to develop and manage relationships at all levels within the University, and international partners. You should possess good IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook. You should also have the ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining close attention to detail with a calm and professional manner.
Typically, you will have experience of working in the UK higher education sector, and personal experience of studying or working abroad as a university student. The post may involve some UK and / or international travel. You must have a degree or relevant work experience in HE.
