The School has an excellent reputation for teaching and research in health and social care. Our academic members of staff (approx. 90) include social workers, nurses, allied health care professionals, psychologists and sociologists. In 2017 we were awarded a silver Athena SWAN award.
The Centre for Social Work and Social Justice aims at becoming a world leading hub for social work education, where active research feeds directly into the training of the new generation of social workers. Our vision is for the Centre to develop a coherent and distinct identity, both inside and outside the University. This identity, builds on the strengths of the existing staff, responds to the broader challenges facing social work and society and embraces the University principle of "challenging conventions".
