Job description
Finance, Planning and Data Insight Section
The Planning and Data Insight team recently merged with Finance to create a new Finance, Planning and Data Insight Section. This was to maximise the synergies between areas of work that have natural connections.
The Planning and Data Insight team has close links with IT Services and will create, collect and share
information and understanding to help the University achieve its goals to support the University in the development, implementation and monitoring of the University's Strategic Plan and its supporting strategies.
Duties of the Role
The role holder will have responsibility for providing clear leadership and managerial responsibilities to this team supporting the Head of Planning and Data Insight, and Director of Finance, Planning and Data Insight. The post will help set priorities and ensuring effective management of workload, and fostering a collaborative and customer focused approach.

Qualifications and Skills
Applicants are required to hold a good first degree preferably in a numerate subject or substantial relevant experience.
It is crucial that the post holder brings relevant experience in relation to strategic planning and data insight with a proven track record in directly delivering high quality data analysis and insight to senior management and experience of conceiving, developing and managing new services in a complex, large organisation. In addition it is important for the successful candidate to possess a knowledge of and significant experience in preparing and submitting accurate student data returns to HESA and the OfS
Leadership and staff management skills, influencing, negotiation and persuasion skills, and excellent computer skills (with experience of using a range of general and specialist software) are all sought-after essential attributes for this role.
