By joining Faculty of Science and Health Employability Team you will play a key part in a small multi-disciplinary unit, working closely with your line manager, the Faculty Placements Manager. Adapting your pattern of work to meet Faculty needs and priorities, you will run daytime and evening events, reach out to employers (including travelling to them), create and process placements opportunities and support students on placement. This is an exciting time of change and of strategic employability developments within the University, which the Employability and Careers Centre (E&CC) and the Academic Section as a whole are playing a key role in leading. The University of Essex is embarking on a major investment in employability that will bring about a step change in service delivery.
Skills and qualifications required
Educated to degree level, you may hold a relevant professional qualification, though this is not essential. You will have an innovative, engaging and effective professional approach that wins the confidence of those around you. Your skill set will encompass working with external bodies (employers, third sector etc.), project management and administrative skills, as well as the ability to support students.
Your previous experience will have equipped you with insight into employability, recruitment and student issues. Ideally you will have worked on internships or work based/related learning. A professional with a background in employer/business engagement is sought for the role of Faculty Placements Officer (FPO) to join our award winning Employability and Careers Centre (E&CC).
